In his long shadow, they fought over money and power, nearly destroying both the business and the family. After quarrels and litigation, they finally managed to rediscover each other and the importance of family.

Family Business Consultant, Author & Public Speaker

Doug Box is a family business consultant based in Dallas. He is a frequent speaker at family business forums across the country, as well as lecturer at universities.


Doug formed Box Family Advisors and began helping families with succession planning, corporate governance, dispute resolution and family meetings. He brings personal experience to his understanding of family dynamics. As the youngest of four sons, he grew up and worked in a family enterprise all his life. The Box Family controlled several public and private companies with interests in oil & gas, cement manufacturing, and real estate. Following his father’s sudden death and a litigious our year family ordeal, Doug led the sale of the oil and gas concern known as Box Energy Corp.


Doug attended the University of Texas at Austin. He received an MBA with honors at Baylor & a Masters in Dispute Resolution from SMU. He also holds a certificate in Family Business Advising from the Family Firm Institute in Boston, as well as a certificate in Executive Coaching from SMU.
